Default Re: Easy car extended warranty/recommended service

I have a 2010 XK Coupe with presently 8,000 miles on it. I purchased it 18 months ago with 4,800 miles. I took out an Easy Care/Total Care 6 year warranty and have not had a problem to date. As seen, I don't drive very much. I constantly get reminders about recommended service by mail or on line. 6 months after I purchased the car, I changed my oil and brake fluid at Jaguar. Of course I want my extended warranty to work if needed without any unnecessary loopholes by the company. I don't think Jaguar is as stringent as Porsche (especially under factory warranty), but is it necessary to do anything else and still be covered under this third party warranty other than oil changes every year and brake fluid changes every 2 years? I'm sure I'll probably be driving even less this year and not even make 9,000 miles. I am a believer of changing oil every year regardless of how little mileage the car is driven. What other required service can they be referring to?

Boca:

Look at the owners manual and the schedule of maintenence which will provide a good idea of what should be done.

However, I don't believe that the 3rd Party Warranty (EasyCare) will cover maintenence items, only parts that break down and are in need of repair.

After 2 years ownsership I have expenses of $130 for oil and filter change and $93 for a wheel alignment which was completed today.

I am finding that all the myths about Jaguar ownership and how many break down and need repair is just that, a myth.

My 2009 Jag XKR has performed flawlessly so far. And only spending $223 for maintenence in a 2 year period is pretty awesome and speaks volumes about the reliability of the present day Jaguar.

Realistically you may never need to file a claim with your 3rd party warranty service, unless something just quits or breaks down.

I am also a low mileage driver of my 2011 XKR. I only drive it about 2,000 miles per year. Regardless - I take it in for an annual service (which Jaguar recommends). So for me - mileage is irrelevant / once per year is the schedule as item / fluids "age out" not always do you want to wait for them to "wear out".

To that point - note that I changed my tires - even though they only had about 9,000 miles on them and looked as new. FYI the quality of ride (I replaced them with OEM Dunlops) was very noticeable and dramatically improved.

Something to think about if you are still running on your original / as delivered tires.
