Default Resonator delete x-pipe install cost

Hey Everyone,

I went by a local shop this morning to get a quote on x-pipe install and $550-600 was what I was quoted for 4 hours of work. It's too rich for this, I'd rather invest in a stainless exhaust if I'm going to invest that much.

I have had several cars with custom exhaust and have not had nearly this much quoted for the same work. Where I am in Atlanta exhaust customization work seems to be rarer and rarer, thus the high quote maybe?

For those of you who have had this done to your XKR do you mind sharing what you paid for the custom work you had done? I recall paying $140 for straight pipes custom made for my M5, a bargain compared to this recent quote.

Thanks

Stainless pipes plus TIG welding while ensuring it is still totally removable... That's not a totally unreasonable price although maybe a tad on the high end.

Although a removable solution would be ideal, this was a fully welded install of the x-pipe I already purchased, and it's just the x-pipe replacing the second resonator, not any real length of stainless pipe. This was just fitment and install costs.

It would have perhaps helped in your original post had you eluded to the fact that you'd already purchased the X-pipe and it was install only and not supply/fit?

So yes IMO a rip off by 200-300 of your USD

Also add your country so it is immediately visible so we know your referring to to USD and not (for example) AUD

When I had an X-pipe installed and the resonator removed from my 5.0L XKR probably 8 years ago, i went to a local muffler shop a few blocks from my house, and he charged me $225.00 including his X-pipe. Inflation as it is now, this still could have been the price about a year ago but not in this economy.

As a bespoke custom made stainless mandrel bend pipes and workmanship its a pretty good price.

If you are a master at welding then buy the stainless materials and bends and DIY.

Chris I think the OP has the intermediate pipe the price he mentioned is just for the actual fitment
