Shaved door handels
I saw one post about the shaved door handles on a Jaguar XKR and thought it made a perfect care a tad bit sexier. In my opinion it just cleaned the profile up that much more. Since the XKR is already a better vehicle than its cousin Ashton Martin, I think that little piece of body sculpting adds a refined touch. So my question is, Does anyone have any experience in making such a modification or know of a shop in Texas that can make a seamless modification to enhance my baby. And what do you guys think of a shaved door handle modification. Let me know, I would love to hear your opinions. Also if you have any pictures please share

I've gotta ask. Wasn't familiar with the concept of shaved door handles, so I googled it and saw some pics. Looks nice I guess, but how do you get in after?
Edit: OK so I googled it further and see you toggle an actuator with your key fob. Doesn't seem worth the potential problems to me.

Why would you want to do that?
Maybe I am prejudice as I once had a 57 Thunderbird that someone did that to the doors and trunk lid. It took a lot of time and money to put it back the way it was supposed to be.
I guess if you are into hot rods then maybe. You will need the wire wheels, leaper on the hood, BFG Radial T/A's, and side pipes too. If you can figure out how to get the blower to stick up through the hood that would finish off the look!

Hmmm. You asked. Let's keep it civil jerome please. We're all better than that.

My two cents, be careful on mods that can't be easily reverted back to OEM.

Interesting Aston was mentioned as it wasn't until the F-type that Jaguar went with retractable (shaved) handles yet AM has had them for years. I don't mind the current design though I do not think it adds anything to the aesthetics of the car, but I do like the way the F-type/Aston ones look, if it could be done I would consider it.
Q&C: Don't forget our own predecessors, the X100 XK8/XKR had recessed handles.

If I ever go about changing the look of my car, going to body colored instead of chrome would be the first.

I first saw an X100 outside the palace of Monaco back in 2001, deep blue coupe with light tan. I thought it looked great then, and still think they look great now.

I have no strong opinion on this subject, on shaved handles I am ambivalent as I don't think the current handles detract or enhance. To me they are just a functional piece of the car that I do not notice. Do what makes you feel good. Of course there are so many things on cars that folks obsess over that I feel are so irrelevant only they will notice, modified tailpipes, front lips, side skirts. But it makes them smile when they walk out and look at their car so that is all good.
As far as your temper tantrum, toughen up Sally. Don't be so thin-skinned about the opinions, it isn't like davechr called you a dumbass, idiot, moron, or any other personal attacks. It was his opinion and a valid point.

I find the feeling of grabbing something substantial like a handrail most comfortable, gratifying and can give you something to hang on to while trying to look sober. The other feels like lifting a kilt with finger tips.

The XK's is much more user friendly!
If the OP wants shaved door handles, perhaps an Aston Martin Vantage would be the ticket, you have the look from the factory.
