Default SmartKey question

I can lock the XK with a push of the small black button on the door handle, but can't unlock it the same way. Couldn't find a setting to remedy this.

This can't be the design. What am I missing?

Should not be a problem as both the doors will unlock as soon as you pull on the handle to open either door (providing the key fob is in your pocket)...

LOL ... Thanks. It didn't occur to me that I didn't have to do anything other than open the door. Back to the manual now tomsee where I missed that ...

Too impatient to hop in eh? Definitely read the manual, forward to back. Can save you some light head-scratching as well as some serious grief.

Going on about that (b.t.w. I didn't figure that one out in the beginning either). It appears that when I pull the doorhandle, the passengers side door remains locked. Is that in a setting somewhere? I could not find it in the manual

Yeah there is a setting in the system setup for that... poke around under the security settings, I can't remember where it is, but you can set it so both doors will unlock when you pull the driver's door handle.

I don't remember the page in the manual, but in the settings it's referred to as single stage and 2 stage locking. Single stage unlocks only the drivers door, 2 stage unlocks both doors.

Haha, that sounds like a better system than what's on my girlfriend's 2012 Sonata. You push it but you don't know if it's locking or unlocking until you pull the handle to check! Gets especially confusing when you have two people pushing the button from both doors!

My apologies to everyone. I got the stages backwards. I shouldn't rely on my memory at my age. 2-Stage locking will only unlock the drivers door. It requires a second action, usually a second press on the fob, to unlock the passenger door. Single stage unlocks both doors. You can change it in "Vehicle/Vehicle Settings" by turning 2-stage on or off.
