Default Thoughts on my XK vs. F-Type

So, after about a month, and near one tank of fuel, I suppose I've formed a few opinions.
The XK is, for the both wife and myself, considerably more comfortable on these crap Massachusetts roads. Even with the 19's and new Conti DWS tires, the ride is better.
That is mostly subjective, but we both appreciate the softer ride. The CVD suspension system works well. My F was a base, no adjustable shocks, but rode better after I replaced
the Super Contacts with Michelin Pilot 4S'.
The overall length is approx. 13 inches (?) longer for the XK, similar weight (?) but feels much bigger inside.
I had the V6 340hp in the F. The 5.0 in the XK has more hp, but it's the torque that wins it for me. The 5.0 F must be a blast!
I have always liked the ZF trans. The 8 spd from the F and the 6 spd. in the XK.
I'm trying to ignore any faint squeaks rattles random odd sounds and the like. It's a 90k plus mile 2011 but carries over 30 service records, so...it ain't my first rodeo.
I couldn't find any timing chain history, but for an experiment, I switched the oil to Valvoline Restore and Protect.
Overall, I (we) prefer the XK. It has a vibe that fits us a little better. Apologies to the F-Type diehards over in that forum!
Hopefully the car keeps it together mechanically, I'll give it what it needs, I only ask the same.

David

The F type I test drove just felt like a cheaper car. The V6 was quite nippy. The difference was really noticeably when I got back in the XKR

I have both XKR and F-Type V6S convertibles. They are different cars one is a sports car one is a gt. Even though I enjoy the F-Type more I do enjoy the XKR just as much its more practical given the fact you have a back seat and a bigger trunk space. They both get lots of attention but its the way the F-Type makes you feel and the experience is what gives it the edge.

You mean the wife’s shopping storage area?

Drove a F type (V6 auto) to see if I wanted to buy. Lots of performance, wild sounding exhaust, zero space if you're tall. All depends on what the goal is. Glad yours is working out. Which do you drive more often?

I would say, at this point, the F got more attention. Definitely more sports than GT. I'm guessing I wanted a GT more to begin with.
As far as the way it made me feel? I was on the gas ALL the time in the F! Dynamic mode, pops crackles. I suspect that particular car had a history not shown on car fax, so, it was great for awhile.

I sold the F a couple years back. In the interim, I had a 2014 E Class sedan, totally different direction. I sold it a couple weeks ago, only 23k on the clock. I may regret it.

Please update your Public Profile and create a signature that includes the model years of your XKR and F-Type and anything that makes them special.

That'll help us. Otherwise, we'd have to go back to your first post in this thread.

For the record, the signature only shows when using the laptop browser.
Mobile won’t add the sig.

That's true if you view the mobile website.

If you access the Desktop Site from your cellphone, you will see everything, including signatures. Tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner.to open the.drop-down munu. Then click Desktop Site at the bottom of the page.

This works on my Android phone using the Chrome browser, not sure about Apple.

Upper left 3 bars on an iPhone. Select ‘View Full Site’ from the menu.

I own a XKR and my buddy has a F sport 400.
The F is an absolute riot to drive, I feel like I was strapped to go cart with an Acme rocket. Unfortunately I needed two shoehorns and a pry bar to get in and out of it, definitely more sports car than practical GT.
The XKR is a refined GT with great performance and a nice comfortable spacious driver and shotgun passenger areas. Its a luxury car with the heart of a super car.
I’m sure the younger smaller me would have loved the F but at 60 and larger the XKR is perfect for me.

Like I said before they are different cars. I have an XKR Portfolio with Arden Pack and it gets just as much attention as my F-Type but the F-Type gets the most attention its an exotic I like to call it art and entertainment on wheels. With the F-Type each drive is like an event. But the XKR is more practical and it gives me a more classic feel. I enjoy them both but the F-Type has a split personality which is cool. I can cruise or just cause riot in the streets. My XKR I have 2 stage exhaust and its loud but on my F-Type the stock exhaust seems to be much louder than my XKR with stage 2 exhaust.

Your XKR is an X100, and you're in the
. This is the X150 Forum.

As an owner of both, I'll second the GT car vs. sports car comparison.

I find the F-Type delightfully light and responsive, though some might say "twitchy." But I come from a 2011 Z06 Corvette, and have never driven a 911, so consider my limited background. Even after years in the 'Vette, the V6S F-Type is noisy and raspy and a little rambunctious. And I love it for that.

But the XK is a glorious, road-eating cruiser made up of equal parts quiet and smooth, and it puts the "train" in powertrain, with torque for days.

Perfect description of an XK.
