Took the XK out for its first drive since being put away for the winter late last fall. Started right up, ran perfectly for my little 20 mile drive.
Such a great car.
I replaced both rear hub assemblies due to a bearing type noise. The noise is still present. It’s like a damn cricket, dr ing me crazy! Crazy I tell you.
Installed (plugged in) Invery Bluetooth dongle in 2012 X150 convertible and found it also runs Audio from Maps Apps through car audio.
Works great.
Connects as soon as radio powers on and picks up last played music seamlessly.
Lowers volume upon shifting into reverse.
Also allows it to be set as Car Stereo profile on settings of iPhone.
New Tires on my 12 XKR. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Michelin PS4S before and now...difference is tread vs no tread!
Yep, that's why nearly everyone who buys any brand new tire always think "These new tires are the best brand ever!!!" Comparing their old crap to new anything.
Me, I can't stand Michelin ever since they tried to kill me. Literally. They failed though.
Oil/filter change+ replaced r/f fog light and bracket.
A rock destroyed previous f/l, the bracket is quite tricky to remove and install.
It has near impossible fastener to access.
The new light looks so 'NEW' compared to the remaining that one more f/l is on order!
Also replaced secondary air pump while in that area, old one's front cover had fallen off...brittle plastic, just like skin doesn't take aging all that well.

Got some water damage inside a headlight bezel and instead of forking out $1500+ USD, decided to tint the headlights and to my delight, they look great with Lunar Grey Metallic. Will do tail lighters, window next. Then I’ll probably opt for gun metal wheels and that should complete this euro-mod project.

I bought the parts in July and I hadn't had any indications of any wear I just knew it was coming they looked like they were down around 3 mm. Everything went smoothly I waited through the winter I kept thinking that work on it in the garage when it was cold and then in the spring things have been busy and I wasn't driving the car until late March. Akebono ceramic they feel good so far I'm still bedding them in, but so far so good with one trip out 20 to 30 stops. I took some pictures and notes on the old pads, that was slightly more wear on one side, 4 and 4.5mm vs 3 and 2.5. I will keep an eye on that.
Very pleased with how it went. Getting in there, cleaning and getting a closer look at everything was great for practice and confidence. It might be cool to paint the calipers someday, now that I have done the brakes, that seems a lot easier. This is my first major work beyond the oil change, I have a 2-ton jack and I got axle stands for this and just research3d a lot with YouTube.
One of each of the upper and lower bushings are pretty torn up, and I had noticed last year, so in the long run I might want to try to figure out how to do those myself. The brakes seemed like a simpler stepping stone before I get anywhere near that. The positive is that they don't make noise, but it's an '08 so rubber rots. Hit my 40k miles just when I started driving again last month.
Super pleased with the brake work. I'm sure I took advantage of lot of your threads and expertise throughout the forums thank you all for maintaining this place.
I messed around in SDD's Engineering Mode today to see if I could turn on a few items I've been curious about.
One test was the heated steering wheel that is missing in all 2009 XKR Portfolios. When I saw the "Heated Steering Wheel" line item in SDD, I was wondering if I could get the icon on the touchscreen. The answer is yes, you can get the icon but no heat is produced in the steering wheel. So, I deactivated the feature. Obviously, the car needs an appropriately fitted steering wheel. I believe Stuart S came to a similar conclusion about the steering wheel itself when he first posed the question in 2010, but nobody answered his dealer activation question. Sorry, I know this is a hot-button item that has been beat to death, but I just had to find out.
Other tests included "Superlock", "Superlock Chirp", and "Remote Frequency Global Close Permitted". I didn't want the Superlock items, but was simply curious. However, Global Close is a nice feature. Since this is a North American car and those features are not allowed here, none of them would work. Possibly, if I also changed the line item, "Market", from USA to some other country then it might work, but I don't know what other issues that might raise. So, I returned these features to deactivated.
Oddly, there were a few other features that are already active in my car even though they were listed as Disabled in SDD. These included "Mirror Dip in Reverse" and "Power Fold Mirrors".
Anyway, just a lazy day trying to learn more about SDD. It would be nice to have a full description of what each SDD line item does and what limitations there are. Dreaming...
I stand corrected (from my post #2515 above), Global Close does work but only by pressing and holding the door handle exterior lock button for an extended period. Both windows do roll up automatically using the door-handle locks. Does this work for others?
My settings in SDD include both "Global open" and "Global close" enabled; it was the "Remote Frequency Global Close Permitted" that I had tested. I figured "Remote Frequency Global Close Permitted" would allow global closing from the key fob but it did not. Global Open does work from the key fob (and it did before I started messing around). Maybe I'll play around with this setting again.

In follow up to my posts #2515 and #2517 above, I did create a list of all SDD v130 configuration-parameter options. Those interested will find the list posted in the "General Jaguar Forums" under "General Tech Help" pages at: Car Configuration Personalization Parameters in SDD v130 .
Plugged in the battery maintainer. I’ve been sick with bronchitis and haven’t driven her for a while, so decided to plug ‘er in. Fortunately, we have great year round weather, so, I’m not missing good riding weather.
