Consider starting a separate thread relevant to the topic. You'll probably get more assistance. Also be specific on which control arms you're referring to.

Installed the SuperSprint x-pipe mid section. Created a separate post about it. Must say, great mod, well worth it on a great car!

The "Before" shot.

My wife and I just returned from putting about 1000 miles on the clock during a 3-day trip to Big Bend National Park in southwest Texas. Fires around the Castolon area forced the closure of the paved route to the Santa Elena canyon where the Rio Grande cuts a gorge with 1500’ cliffs between the US and Mexico.

The only alternative to get there was the 13 miles of Bad Road called Old Maverick. Gravel, washboard, ruts and pot holes the whole way except for the three dry stream bed crossings—then it was just ruts and pot holes.

The XK did quite well on the way in but coming out we started to high-center on the hump between the ruts in the middle of one of the stream crossings. I turned the wheel just enough to climb the hump a bit, but the front left tire started to plow the soft hump and the rear lost traction and I stopped before I dug myself in. Luckily there was an SUV 100 yards or so ahead of us. I flashed my headlights and they saw them just before turning the next bend. As the SUV approached, I had a moment of concern that it would contain only a couple of skinny old ladies. When four burly guys jumped out, I breathed a sigh of relief. With three of them giving a push, I got back in the ruts and made it to the far bank without further trouble.

With that experience under our belts, we went 4-wheeling again the next day in search of the old Hot Springs on the banks of the Rio on the other side of the park. The Springs were covered by the fast flowing river due to the recent rains. But the drive was still great!

Sadly, I washed all the bugs off the front of the car before I thought to take a picture. You could have aced a high school entomology project with all the butterflies, moths, grasshoppers, flies and gnats that were too slow to get out of the way…

Thanks Old Radar. I did the same trip a few years back but not in the XK. Beautiful country though.

It sure is. We stayed at the Chisos Mountains Lodge, the only hotel in the park, and this was the view from our room on two of the three nights:

Old Radar's pics and story makes me want to take a road trip.

All I did today was install a dash cam/rear view cam and fix a twisted seat belt.

SuperSprint X-Pipe arrived, hopefully get it installed soon....

Do you have a link to the ones you bought? I want to do this, and I even bought some on eBay, but I think the $16 ones I bought will require me to drill holes in the door. I'd much rather buy ones that pop out and pop in.

These are the ones I fitted to my '10 XKR and they work really well and can be fitted in seconds:

Those plunk-in lights are much easier, but they shine obliquely. I drilled holes in my door panel bottoms, no way anyone would even know.

In my opinion, that actually makes them better because they are on show more.

I put a different set in my wife's old car and they just shone straight down so only the person getting out of that door really saw them whereas the ones in my Jag shine out on to the pavement for all to see.

As a follow-up to my Big Bend Trip, after washing a good part of the desert off the car, I discovered the consequences of getting a little too close to one of the thorny bushes while avoiding a large pot hole on one of the dirt tracks. A multitude of thin but quite visible scratches ran the length of the passenger side.
I got out my bottle of Scratch Doctor and my buffer and am happy (and relieved) to report it looks like it never happened!

In regards to the puddle lamp projectors these are the ones I bought, offered them $20 and they accepted. Work just fine.

The link, so a search isn't necessary

P.S. The link doesn't go to the product page. Here's a screenshot.

I paid $20 on ebay, cheap enough. I only buy via Ebay or Amazon.

Your money, your choice. But why pay more?
