Default What's Best/Good Rotor & Pad replacement option

Seems as though I need new rotors and pads on my '07 XKR. If you were going to replace everything (rotors, calipers and pads) what's your choice? I've been looking at several different kinds but have no clue what I'm doing. Since I have to replace rotors and pads figured I'd do calipers too. I don't need anything for the track either. It's a daily driver. Thanks for any help. (In the U.S.)

Hit "search" and you'll find many threads weighing all the aspects of that subject - less break dust, better stopping power, longevity, look, etc depends what factors are most important to you. There's lots of reading on that

I guess I'll have to ask the oblivious questions here. Who told you that you need new rotors and what was that based on. Are they warped or out of spec. If you had them turned down would they still be in spec. Brake pads are usually easy to tell if they are worn so I would ask how thick are the pads now and how much estimated life is left on them. Take a new pad thickness vs you pads. Next would be why would you need to replace calipers. Are they leaking or are the pistons frozen , if not there is no need to replace them. So I would go through this form of logic to determine what needs to be replaced and what is still good.

If you are doing the whole braking system, go with AP Racing.

My suggestion would be replacing with all OEM Jaguar parts other wise.

Unlikely that there's any need or benefit in replacing calipers.

Follow what the others said above in reference to whether or not you really "need" both the brakes and the rotors done.

If you have the warning coming up then I believe you need to buy a new brake sensor, I maybe wrong but the sensor is only ~$20 from SNG Barratt

If it's a DIY project and you want to change the rotors since you're already doing brakes then, I understand as I did the same thing myself. I'm not an "expert" on breaks/rotors so take my recommendation with a grain of salt but I just did rears and went with EBC Red Stuff and Cquence Rotors (dimpled&slotted.) No squeaking, happy with them, equal to slightly better braking power, they're also very low on dust.

You can go with the OEM parts but they're pretty pricey and you may be able to get superior pieces for cheap.

In reference to changing calipers, I'm not sure the motivation behind that/have no recommendations.

I just changed my front pads and rotors, but I have an XK, not the R. I used Akebono pads and am extremely happy. No brake dust and perfect pedal feel. I've used these same pads on 3 different cars and they have always been great.

The XK (OEM) rotors are not very expensive; XKR rotors may well be.

I just ordered drilled and slotted rotors and pads from brake performance in California for my 2009 xkr. I had used them on my 2003 xk and were happy with them. Under $400 for pads and rotors.

I wonder why the OP hasn't re-posted.
