Why does the owners manual for my 2010 XKR show that my car iis supposed to have the word "Auto" on the wiper stalk to allow the driver to engage the auto-rain sensing function, but it doesn't?
Here is a picture of my actual wiper stalk!
For many years, since at least 2009 I think, Jaguar have been in the habit of including everything / all options in the owner manual whether the car has that option or not.
That way they could get away with printing just a single manual for each model and save a few bickies.
Mystery solved. Two different wiper switches were used during the 2010 model year. Early models used C2Z11721, the same as the 2009 models, and later models used C2D51510.
Although the new switch doesn't say it, I'm pretty sure that when turned on the wipers are in automatic mode and will speed up and slow down depending on the rain conditions.
The arched movement of the stalk up and down selects the mode. The Min - Max selects the intermittancy of the rain sensor activation....... either really sensitive or you need a downpour to have them move.

Now that's some fantastic detective work! Mystery solved indeed!! Wonder why the change happened? Guess "AUTO", (the previous iteration if I understand correctly and the one pictured in the owners manual), was replaced by "MAX" as mine shows? Maybe the reason was to clarify which setting direction when rotated gave the "max" sensitivity? Am I maybe guessing correctly? (Because just about everything I am doing so far, if not instructed by you guys, is a GUESS! LOL!)
