Default Where to wire in LED daytime running lights

My XF Sportbrake has them as standard fitment and I've successfully installed after market DRLs on a number of classics I own. I have the units and the correct relay, but I hate to admit I have failed to find where on the car I can easily connect to the car's loom. Even tried the fuse box unsuccessfully. I need to connect the relay to both a wire that is only, but always live when the ignition is on, and another that feeds the parking light circuit. Can anyone help please? Car is a '09 XK, one of the first 5L (ex UK, now in NZ).

I know I could use the headlights, but have found the LED DRLs to be more likely to be seen.

Thanks

Have you downloaded the electrical schematic for your car? I would think there would be something that could be used to trigger a small relay that would power up the lamps.

Here's the wiring diagram, when doing this make sure everything is working as it should.

May need to take headlamps out for access - let me know if you need help with that as well.

I may have read somewhere, but don't know when/where... and I may be confusing it with other forums I peruse.... but isn't there a way to Turn On DRL with the Jaguar Diagnostics stuff?

I'd refer you to this thread started by Big Otter:

Yes you can turn it on with Jag diagnostic but you need an open Car config file, there are a few members here that can arrange this for you if you want to spend a few hundred on cables & software.

I had DRL set to "on" in the CCF on my 07, but that just puts the head lamps to low beam when the ignition is on. Not much help if adding LEDs but better than not having anything at all.

If I had not moved up to a 12 model I'd probably pursue the same course as the OP.

The 12s have LED DRLs in the front. Your local dealer can program your headlights to go on when you start the car as stated above in earlier models or even the 12 if you are of mind to have them lit all the time.

Thanks all, mine is an early 5L XK so no fitted DRLs and I would prefer not to have the dip beams on all the time.
Thanks to the wiring diagram and comments above I've found easy access to the sidelight wiring, and probably a place to store the relay, but exactly / physically where I can access an ignition live wire under the bonnet still eludes me. Can see it on the diagram but can't see where that actually is. Any further pointers welcome.

Isn't there a fuse panel in the engine compartment where you can find a hot feed after start.

Ditto. You should be able to find a relay that powers the o2 sensor heaters and use that as a trigger for your aftermarket light relay. I think the fans are always hot and just have a monitored speed signal that you don't want to mess with. There are also a couple connectors out by the bumper for ACC that may be hot on run. You'll need to probe around and see what works with a good volt meter.

Do you have the entire wiring diagram already? If not, you can download from here:

And I don't know what model years X150 this applies to. It seems to line up with my 07, but may get you closer.
