Default Window keeps dropping after I raise it.

My driver side window keeps lowering itself automatically after I raise it. It doesn't matter whether I use the automatic raise or I'm raising it manually. Once it gets to the top it'll start back down again and will not allow me to raise it until it gets all the way down. After several tries I can get it raised and it'll stay. I just replaced the battery this spring, so I'm not looking that direction. What other ideas have you got?

Were the windows reset after you had the new battery installed? If not, that's probably the cause of your problem.

First thing to try is to reset the windows. Do this on both sides with the ignition ON.
  1. Raise the driver's window up to the top seal and release the switch.
  2. Raise it again until the window stops moving, and release.
  3. Pull the raise button again and hold it for 2 seconds.
  4. Lower the window fully and release the switch.
  5. Press the lower button again for 2 more seconds until you hear the relay click.
Do the same thing on the passenger side.

Hopefully, that'll work. From the Owner's Handbook:

I think I fixed it. I kept trying the reset procedure but could not get the 'click' when holding the switch in the up position.

I tried repeatedly commanding the window up and after several micro - movements towards up and closed, I did get the reset click. It appears to be working correctly now.

What's a hard reset vs a reset, and when is what needed? In general terms

Hard reset is usually used to reset any electrical gremlins however it will not reset any stored DTC codes (some ppl also use it to reset the tcm , allowing the vehicle to readjust to their new driving style)

Ceejay or Stuart are big fans of this particular method , I forget which one it is however I'm sure one of them will chime in on my behalf 👍

I'm aware of the hard reset, but have never had a need to do it.

I don't know if "fan" is the correct term, but I do know that it does clear up electrical gremlins.
I've only done it a few times myself, although recommended it several more. It works more times than not, and it's FREE!

Sorry CeeJay I wasn't entirely sure who had recommended it on previous occasions 👍👍

A hard reset is the "nuclear option" and should be a last resort rather than being seen as the panacea for all electrical/electronic gremlins. The main disadvantage is it clears learned adaptions such as fuel trims and resets these to default values. There may well be times when you would deliberately want to do this but lost window travel limits is not one of them.
