Default Windows not working after battery swap

Hi all,

The cold killed my old battery so I swapped it out yesterday but I'm getting a few weird electrical wobbles (just for a change with a Jag...)

The window switches aren't working *at all* and the seat motors were only moving by one click each time you held the switch in a direction

I've just swapped out fuse 9 which seems to have cured the seats but not the windows, which also means I can't lock the car at all.

It also seems to do the "door not closed properly" beep when I push the door unlock button as well if that helps?

Any ideas?

Thanks
Chris

Your new battery is probably low. Charge it completely with a GOOD (10 amp) charger or higher for at least twelve hours.
Also, check for good continuity on all your connections.
"New" batteries sit around for sometimes a very long time before they are sold.

Chris,
Do you have a 5.0L X150 (XK/XKR)? Is your Personal Profile correct?

If you have a 5.0L X150, see:

I'd totally forgotten about that, that's my old car. The XK is 4.2 non-supercharged.

The 4.2L doesn't have the Battery Monitoring Module, so it's a straightforward swap. I agree with Cee Jay and suspect that your new battery isn't fully charged.

Chris,

Please add VEHICLE DETAILS to your forum SIGNATURE.

Model Year is important when asking for advice on the X150 as there are many differences between the early 4.2 and later 5.0 vehicles and between individaul years of these variants.

Having had a new Bosch 05 battery delivered 2 months ago from probably the largest mail order co in the UK (ECP) I found that it was registering just 3 bars on a CTEK, took a 15hr charge to bring t up to 7, so as has been said already, make sure it's charged up fully before fitting

+1

I used another major UK online supplier last August for an OE VARTA battery and had exactly the same charge state experience:

The only source I know that actually keeps new batteries on charge ready for immediate use is my Jaguar Dealer. If they had been open, I 'd have gone there as they give me an even better discount on batteries.

I got a quote from my dealer and they wanted more than double the £113 I paid, am guessing Graham that you get the discount for being a SUPER mod on here?

I used to be a trade customer and still get trade discount. You need to be in the CASHT category to get a good rate from a Jaguar Dealer.

Batteries are the only item that get a 30% discount now. Most items are only 10%
