I am surprised you did that well on summer tires @MarkyUK . Well done.
If the roads are frozen, I find my summers worse than very dull skates.. . Let alone with an inch of snow.

Have always thought that the worst thing about anyone falling over on snow/ice is the major embarrassment and difficulty of trying to get back up again. Consequently I have never fallen over...if I did I'd simply sit and wait for the grim reaper

I remember in the 80's in London driving an original mini in the snow, I did so with the windows open, as if I did slide at slow speed I could just push off of parked cars...seriously I was young and stupid once!

My former wife had the '69 Clubman model... loved that car. Even in the snow.

 

Do you put it on Jack Stands? Flat spots in tires are no fun and can begin develop in as little as 3 weeks on a car that hasn't been moved if you have high performance tires. I'd imagine if you left it sit for months all winter, you may have some irreparable flat spots that will never go away.

 

Personally - I have stored many cars for many months at a time (both in cold and hot storage environments). While the tires do develop something akin to flat spots (never actually flat) a :20 minute drive has always sorted that out. It would take me longer to put them up on Jack stands than the drive takes to eliminate the issue.

 

I have stored my BMW Z4 for 16 winters, usually about 5 1/2 months in cold storage on a conc. slab. The car had run flat tires. In the spring I'd get a thump thump sound for a few miles before it's typical smooth ride,tires lasted about 60K miles. I really think I'll store my XK the exact same way

 

Not for winter storage. Tires can be ruined in storage if they go flat or dryrot. This doesn't generally happen unless stored for years.

 

Car manufacturers shipping cars to faraway markets usually inflate the tires to the maximum pressure (or near it ) on the tire wall. This prevents flat spots and does not harm the tires. This is what I do when winter storing my cars.
