Powerhouse brought this to my attention: some mad b'stards have decided to revive an XKR 4.2 project that was built by Apex Motorsport on behalf of Jaguar for GT3 racing back in 2008. Unfortunately, it never raced because the team principal died in a plane crash and the company folded. These boys have dug it out and are going to race it in the BritCar club series, as it's not really competitive with 2015 GT3 cars.
Here's the beast on a shakedown run at Silverstone, piloted by none other than Freddie Hunt, son (and spitting image) of the late, great James Hunt:
I've contact the guys, trying to get a bit more info on the car, but despite an initial quick response, I think they've been a bit busy doing the prep & testing.
I have ported cylinder heads from Apex XKR GT3 car. They were spare ones run just few hours on engine dyno. I will put them into my new street engine. Intensive flow testing for Apex to find best possble flow was made by Mountune. If you stop the video at 0:43 you can see the confirmation that the engine bay looks like orginal Apex GT3 engine including the extra cooling parts.
There is an article about these cars in the latest jaguarmagazine.com print edition, looks like you can only see it online with a subscription, but I have a hard copy here.

It has remained a mystery since the aeroplane death of team leader Richard Lloyd - but we identify all of the factory-backed cars, and find the last one.
Anyone know if the race at Silverstone will be televised in the US?
According to the press release from back in October:
Worldwide television coverage of the race at Silverstone will be covered by Sky Sports Television, internet based live streaming and our old friends at Motors TV.
Of course, they're not saying much now, because they want you to buy a ticket...
XJR,
What are the specs on the valves? Are they the same as stock? Have you documented any flow numbers on this set?
Any way you could mic the valve head diameters? Or port dimensions? I'm curious what was opted for performance. I'm looking into located a spare set of heads to build myself.

The valves are stock ones. I have not flow tested them myself. Stock AJ133 heads: 0.6 at 0.3 L/D which is about 0.17 Alpha K ( said by forum member Count Iblis ) They do not look overported but should flow enough for the GT3 engine. Here pictures of intake and exhaust ports.
