Pads and rotors on my newly purchased 2007 XKR are shot. EBC Red seems to be the go to brand for XKR’s in the X100 forum. Low dust, high performance. Recommends appreciated. Thanks
There's no need to reinvent the wheel, as your question has been asked and answered many times in this Forum.
The easiest way to find those old threads is to go to Google and enter this exact search phrase:
"Jaguar X150 Forums recommended pads and rotors for 2007 XKR"
Googled minimum rotor thickness. Hard to find. X150 forum discussion but no numbers. There's a British company (MTEC) that says 30 minimum for 355 and 18 for 326. Does that sound right?
Porterfield pads came up as as good mix of semi metallic performance and low dust.
Thanks, that's a much better approach. I did Google just not w/ "Jaguar X150 forum".
Spelling matters.
For X150 Jaguars, there are two different forums with similar names.
To Google this Forum, you must use the plural prefix "Jaguar X150 Forums". If you use the singular "Jaguar X150 Forum" you will be directed to a different forum.
I've used and got the Mtec's j hooks on my previous 5.0 XK and my current 2012 XKR - They have been superb and if you get their anti rust coating, (black, silver, gold) you'll have nice clean hats and rotor edges for the life of the rotor.
When I replaced my rotors several years ago, I chose R1 Concepts Geomet drilled and slotted rotors, and besides being beautiful to look at, have been smooth as silk ever since I put them on. Picking up my car on Monday from having EBC Red pads installed for the first time, so I'll have a comment on those after I pick up the car on Monday and drive it for a few days. 2010 Jaguar XKR WBPN2-20006 Front and Rear R1 GEO-Carbon Series Brake Rotors | R1 Concepts
Thanks for the feedback. Based on checking old Jaguar Forum posts (and reading manufacturers info), ceramics (different degrees of hardness) look like the choice if you're looking for high performance in sharp corners, 3 digit speeds and possible track use. For me, it's going to be both reliable for casual use but also performance when pushing the car hard. Like so many other owners, cleaning dust off the wheels gets old so low dust is important. Semi metallic seems to be a good balance between performance and less dust but haven't made up my mind yet. Drilled and slotted look great (and better heat dissipation) but can't be turned. Look forward to your feedback after a few miles w/ EBC.

Recommended wear’s 2mm from new. Many aftermarket rotor sites will list their thickness in their specs then subtract 2mm to find out the minimum.
The 355mm starts 32mm and discard’s 30mm; the 326mm starts at 20mm and should be discarded at 18mm.
