Default XKR with vertical doors

I just saw a '09 grey XKR with vertical/butterfly doors. I thought it was very cool. Definitely was an eye catcher as there were several people taking pictures and gawking over it. Does anyone in this forum have vertical doors on their XKR? If so, I'd definitely be interested in how they stack up or if the're any issues with them. I must say again, this Jag looked awesome with those doors!!!!!

No way to choose XKR on that site. You can choose XK8 and others, but not XKR.

Hi Ron,

Just to be clear, in no way am I recommending that site (or gull wing door modifications). However, they do show a photo, which is interesting in itself, and although they only list the "XK8" they show it with a drop down menu listing model years through 2010, and I would assume that those 2007-2010 models are XK's which might have doors workable on XKR's - but who know what they really offer. But if someone is seriously interested in gull wings they might be a good place to contact (along with a few others you can Google).

Tony

Guys, it the vertical doors did look really cool. I'm not sure if I'm actually considering doing that, ( I guess Iam since I'm inquiring about them). Just wanted to get you guys input. Thanks.

OK, thanks a lot! Haven't had the car a full week yet, and now I'm considering spending another $800 on these doors. Woof!

Here is another fault to vertical doors...
Revamped the post... Images were a tad disturbing. Needless to say driver and passenger could not exit the vehicle while it was upside down and on fire...shame...

Don't forget to find a dealer that also does spinners and bobble fringe so you can one-stop shop. :-)

I had vertical doors installed on another, previous vehicle for show purposes - they do look cool and attract a lot of attention - but are 100% completely impractical for everyday use.

I have to agree with the impracticalness. I have them on an '08 Corvette (came that way-bought it used), and although they look cool when they are open, they are a PIA to get in and out. Think about how you are going to maneuver getting out when the door is up. Just my 2 cents. I am actually looking at getting them back to original specs.

Thx guys. I just wanted to get you guys opinion. It was a passing though, but I don't think I'll do it, at least not now. However, they did look really, really cool.

Exclamation thanks for stopping me

Thanks for stopping me from putting lambos on my xk8 My wife believes I'm an ## #### and those things would confirm her opinion. The spinners and bobble fringe comment did the trick.
