Default Yet another very cool Jaguar XK experience

So today I stopped into my local SAM's Club to pick up some frozen raw chicken wings (My friends say I deep fry the best wings and raw fries in the Carolinas). As I pulled into my parking space (far, far, away from the doors, of course), I saw a brand new Mercedes S65 AMG (12 cylinder, $210,000.00 retail) pull into a space behind me. I promptly got out of my car without looking back (hard for me to do) and walked about fifty feet. I then surreptitiously glanced back at the two cars parked one in front of the other, hoping I would see what I did see...

...and I was not disappointed.

The driver of the $210,000.00 AMG was walking all around my 2008 XK, peeking in the windows and seriously checking out my indigo beauty...

Ah, life can be soooooo cool!

sweet! Personally I think all German cars are overrated/overpriced for what they are. Even (especially) AMGs.

I love colors of your car. I'd have liked an ivory interior instead of black. Couldn't find one for sale at the time though. Not sure the portfolio ed even had the option. Does the white interior take much maintenance?

Actually the interior takes surprosingly little to keep it looking nice. I use Lexol to clean and every now and then I treat it to "Leather Honey" conditioner.

When I bought the car, there was about a 3" rub spot in the usual place on the driver's side bolster (ground in dirt in the leather and stitching). I purchased a small bottle of custom blended ivory leather dye (matched to my seats), applied the dye as instructed, and bingo, looks brand new. To this day, folks can't tell there was ever any signs of wear/grime.

Where did you source the dye? I too have an ivory interior and a few spots that could use some attention.

Obviously he is a car guy and car guys like cars of all sorts both expensive, rare, and maybe beat up and unique. Cool story.

The body of the XK is hard not to notice and like if you like cars.

I found a guy from England selling the stuff on E-bay. I also know there is a company right here in the states selling a similiar product. I'll do a little checking and get back with you...

The guy I bought my ivory dye from is located in the U.K. and sells on e-bay. Here is the link:

Like I said earleir, there is a company here in the states that sells the same stuff, I just can't remember anything about them (old age setting in)

I have ivory color leather and no wear spots at all. Sometime dye from jeans can transfer, but it comes out with leather cleaner. I like the Connolly's Hide food and put it on 3-4 times a year.

I had my windows tinted and paint protection film applied yesterday. When I came to pick up the car the installer's assistant, a kid of maybe 21 or 22 years old, said "Man I wasn't a Jaguar fan until today". He went on and on about it haha. I've had a number of people say they thought it was an Aston Martin (and strangely, had more than one pronounce it "Ashton" like the guy who used to be married to Demi Moore). Weird.
