Default 03 Xk8 water pump questions with pics....

Ok I am doing my water pump on my car. The old pump has a metal gasket with the center portion having a rubber insert, if you look close at the pump a portion of the center rubber stuff on the old pump is GONE, prob my leak once under pressure.
My concern is the new pump. Looking at the new pump there is no rubber anything on the middle. Just the pump and the paper gasket, wont it LEAK with no rubber part there? Can I use some type of light tacky stuff to hold the gasket to the pump for installation. As most know it is tight quarters to work in there. Would be nice it the gasket stayed in place.
Also the bolts I pull out came out fine but all but one is discolored on the non threaded part. The color in the pics is hard to see but they are colored like chrome pipes on a motor cycle, that rainbow color right out of the motor. Does that mean they are weaker and should be replaced? Where could I find these types of bolts, hardware stores???
I have posted pics of what it all looks like.
On the front of the car where the rubber part of the old pump sat IN the opening, part of that orig gasket is on the inside of that opening. Do I need to clean it? There will not longer by any kind of seal there with the new pump, just the gasket for the facing of the pump.
Should I find the ORIG type of pump with this rubber set up on it?????

Well I do not like the newer pump set up so I got an ACDELCO version of the orig pump, just 50 bucks and comes with orig set up parts.

I had an AC Delco water pump fail shortly after installing it. The impeller was cracked and let it spin on the shaft.

I'm not saying they are bad in general, I've never had any problems with other parts, but I would give it a good look before installing it.

There is always ganna be a bad reman out there. Over all AC DELCO is a good product. I will look it over well first though. I just feel better putting back in the same part.
The other one I have just does not feel right to me.

The AC Delco is a dead ringer for the stock pump, gaskets and all. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the OEM manufacturer.

Yea it looks just like the one pulled from my car. Looking at my rubber oring and the rubber part around there mine was 1/4 tore up, pretty sure it was letting water get by it and until recently when I saw it dribbling down the front of the motor it was just burning off slowly.

Finally got the water pump in. So far no leaks. I am glad I went back with the ACDELCO unit that was identical to the orig.

For the record I put in the part ACDELCO 252-800 professional pump. See link, it is the exact same thing that came out of the car.

Small note, these metal impeller pumps require a coolant with cavitation inhibitors, which the standard jaguar OAT one doesn't have (and doesn't need for the stock plastic impellers).

Not sure when issues can popup, I guess that will probably only be in the long run, so you may want to check the impellers out later.

I would just stick with the oem pump with plastic impellers!

I can't recall reading this little bit of info before, good to file away for future reference!

Thanks,
Steve

Have mentioned already a couple of times though but that unfortunately gets lost in old threads.

The ford Lincoln ls version probably uses these metal impeller designs, but these cars also use a different coolant with cavitation inhibitors (usually silicone iirc).

the first pump I got had the metal with a lousy paper gasket. I went with the ACdelco since it was like my factory orig I pulled off the car.
