Default Picture of finished 2001 XKR Engine Paint Job.

Hello,
I made a colossal mistake by
posting pictures of the
painted engine BEFORE I was completely finished.

I just got a bit ahead of myself. Sorry for that.

I wanted people to see the engine really finished,
so I made a new thread knowing people
would not go back to view more of what
they already saw. Not so good!

It now looks a bit more finished and ready for viewing!
The way I meant it to be seen the first time around.
The "Supercharged" letters are polished aluminum.
The other letters are Metallic silver vinyl decals and a Black Jaguar Growler.

I will replace the "Jaguar" name decal soon.
Was thinking about painting the covers as well,
(what are they called?).
any thoughts, or would be just too much?

Thanks for looking again!

Happy Motoring...

Very nice! I think you could get away with painting just the coil pack covers red, but I wouldn't paint the entire valve covers.

Looks great! What paint did you use? Did you clearcoat? Did you take the SC and intercoolers off or just mask off and paint in the bay?

I painted my valve covers when I had them off for tensioners, just a fresh coat of black. Unfortunately the paint is not holding up very well, I wish I would have left them as they were. I repaint a lot in my garage, including numerous motorbikes I've owned over the years, but all valve covers I've painted (even with high-temp valvecover paint) haven't held up. I think I'll blame Canada - the temperature changes here are just too extreme, that along with the high temps next to the supercharger, and, well...

Anyways, looks great as it is, and IMO painting valve covers is more trouble than its worth.

Default Engine Details

Engine looks great! I, too, am wondering what paint was used and if you removed the components or masked off the thermostat housing and supercharger.

Hello, I have had several previous threads about many modifications to my 2001 XKR.
The earlier post of the engine painting with information many and more pictures of the process are at this link

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ication-74049/

If you can stand more pictures there is a link on that thread that will take you to
another thread of mine about wheels, body painted, interior leather, new vert top and headliner, stereo upgade improvements Etc.
This link has lots of information about how and where I bought items in the posts of this thread.
Names and links of suppliers.

Thanks for the complements and interest. If you have questions that are not answered most should be answered in the posts of the threads.
I am happy to answer.

As always,
Happy Motoring...
