Default '02 XK8 UK Spec

Have had problems with central locking on my car for some time and have effectively given up and only use key to lock and unlock.
Have tried all the normal replacement of batteries in fobs, recoding of fobs with button pressing and key positions.
Security sounder has been removed because of water ingress which sounds pretty normal especially in the UK.
Would this have an effect on the central locking?
Couple of further questions.
I don't have the sounder anymore, thought I had taken a picture of the label but can't find it. Is there a way of finding out what the correct sounder should be?
Also has anybody heard of anybody or even done for themselves a complete replacement of the central locking system?
Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Chances are it's a door lock microswitch but possibly wiring.

Here's the Security Sounder part numbers which are dependent on VIN and specification.

No longer available from JLR but were around 95 UKP.

Hi, when my central locking gave up the ghost I did the same - replacing fob batteries, trying to relearn the security programming. In the end I sent both fobs for repair at a specialist where the carbon pads were replaced with micro switches (early style fobs). Following reprogramming (headlight stalk etc) everything has been fine. Perhaps something to check? Cheers
