1997 XK8 Convertible, top problem
Hello everybody, my name is Luke, I live in New Jersey USA
I have been out of the automobile business for 23 years.
I am a senior citizen so, please bare with me.
I just bought the 1997 Xk8 with 65,000miles. The car had been sitting for a few years
Everything works, Except the roof. I always try it with the motor running.
The rear windows come down, the latch releases and the top tries to move. It only goes up about 2" and it stops.
The pump works, the reservoir was below the bottom line, I filled it with the good stuff.
The relays check out.
Tried to raise it manually, went through the procedure,, the pistons will not budge..
I would appreciate any help.

It's possible that the the hydraulic system still has the original fluid, which gels with age. If the fluid is correct the cylinders may need rebuilding. Top Hydraulics is one source:
