I took a ride with my 1997 XK8, everything was fine. I have owned the car for a little over 3 years, no problems. She is a Sunday driver, never out in the winters, 70,000 miles on her. I put my foot on the gas pedal, and lost my power, RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE on my speedo. It went into limp mode. My mechanic did a diagnostic, showed code, p0335, so he installed a new crankshaft position sensor. The car rode fine for about a mile, then the same thing happened. Now it is showing no codes. The strange thing, is that my console button for the cruise control stays lit up, wether in the up or down position, the red light is on. I have it in my garage now, bringing it down to my mechanic this week. Please, if anyone has had this issue, let me know what it might be.
Thank you, Rich in Pa.

Reason: Rotate vertical image to horizontal
That's the crank position sensor code but it indicates other problems with the sensor circuit beyond just the sensor itself. There could just as easily be a short in the circuit itself that causes the sensor to malfunction and replacing the sensor won't cure the short.
From the 1999 second edition of the svc. manual for XK8's is this section starting on page 1499.
I've rotated your vertical photo to horizontal. Smartphones and tablets have an orientation attribute that makes them display correctly but many forums can't interpret this.

I suspect an electrical ground connection issue as you seem to have a few gremlins in addition to the P0335. Check out this 2009 thread where Jag-off had identical symptoms https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...t-crank-15786/
He found it was the LF1 Engine ground.
It was a bad ECU all along. I sent it out to ASI in Memphis Tennessee. Got it back in 3 days rebuilt, cost me $120, delivered. She is running at 100%, better than ever. Took this picture today, when we got home.
