2000 for backup camera?
Has anyone or can the stock GPS screen on a 2000 xkr be used with a backup camera system. Considering just getting a license plate camera with Wi-Fi and using cell phone. I don't use GPS much and really wanted to keep the car all original. Recommendation appreciated.
I did exactly that to my 2000. I got a cheap camera, mounted it in the plinth and used a PXL (I think that is what it was called) module to tap into the nav screen. It worked great, picture was great, never so much as flickered and I still had the screen to use (mostly as a clock) when I wasn't in reverse.
I went to a full incase stereo and am going to sell the module so let me know and I can get you more info.

Ok I used a PAC VCI-X. They don’t make them but I was able to grab a brand new one off eBay. You mount it in the trunk near the nav system. You need to cut and splice a few wires coming out of the nav harness and tap into the wire for the reverse light in the tail light but it was quite easy. Probably took under two hours. Google PAC VCI-X and you will find more info. If you search my user name I have a short build post with a few pics of the camera mounted below the trunk button.
In my old car I bought a unit where you removed one of your number plate lights and put the camera, with light, in its place. Worked a treat too.

I just ordered from Car-Solutions a Universal RGB Low-End Video Interface for $100:- This should do the same thing as the discontinued PAC-VCI X. I will use it for both a front and rear Camera. Rear will be hardwired and for the front I will try wireless.
