2000 jag XK8 diagnostic won’t connect?
Red light is on….we have no idea why? A friend Connected his diagnostic tester but it keeps saying error? So he said it’s not connecting with the car computer…. What can be the reason for this not showing codes and connecting to the computer? Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the forums Carol.
Any basic code reader should connect to your vehicle and read the Pxxxx (Powertrain) codes. That's a basic requirement of OBD2 compliance. However, not all diagnostics testers are Jaguar compatible and some will not connect. What are you trying to use?
Although US members used to mention having codes read (free) at Pep Boys, I haven't read this for a while so this may no longer be available. Any member 6000 miles nearer to you than me should be able to advise on this.

Advance Auto parts, AutoZone, Pep Boys all will read codes free of charge if you can get it there. As Graham asked - what type of reader is your friend trying to use as some are not jag friendly
Carol,
Do check the fuse. O’ Reilly and Advanced Auto near me offer the service or allow you to connect their readers and then review results with you. Call the nearest parts place and ask.
Good luck!!

I've been thru this. My Innova 3100 reader (and another reader) powered up fine. Display was visible (Errr) but couldn't get anything. Did the fuse, manipulated the wiring, cleaned connections. Had a Jag shop do the scan. They got C1095 (and misfires in 3 cylinders). Redid the defective ABS module. Because it's on the CAN, apparently disrupted the scan. I can now pull codes (using the Innova). Good luck. Hope it's an easy fix!
