Default 2000 XK8 top issues

Ok this has probably been covered ad nauseam, but I have not found a thread that works for me..
Here is the situation. Battery failed.. Installed new battery. Reprogrammed the windows to drop on door opening just fine..Currently, 1/4 windows are all the way down. top up and locked, will not retract. Tried holding the top button up and down but get no response and no click from relays. checked fuses ... Band new battery 12.7 volts

What would be the procedure I should use

Thanks, RB

RB, no expert on the top, but do know things have to be done in order.

Find the thread in the search engine that tells you how to get the relay in the trunk to get the 1/4 windows up.
After that do a hard reset of the system, take the battery cables off and touch them together for about 10 seconds.
Make sure to take the neg one off first and replace it last.
Come back with a report and we can all have a next adventure trying to get it to work.
Can you hear the motor doing anything after trying this is a big deal.

I removed the battery cables and touched them together for a 1/2 hr or so.. Is that what you are referring to as hard reset?

@brechlrl have a look at this thread - it tells you which relay to remove and which pins to jumper in order to raise the rear quarter windows:
