Default 2001 Radio Code

Apparently I’m going to have to do a hard reset of my computer system in order to reset the monitors and then go through the “drive cycles” AGAIN so I can get a smog check. I’ve gone through the radio manual but can’t find the reset code. I’ve seen some posts that say some U. S. cars don’t have a reset code but I don’t want to do a reset and be left with no radio. Anyone know if this car needs a code or not?

Hi Joe, I have a 2001 NA and that doesn't need a radio code, I've had the battery disconnected for several days on many occasions and the radio fired right up on battery reconnection.

Thanks Hell-Cat. At least that's one thing I don't have to worry about. Now if I can just get these monitors to clear I can get this thing smogged.

Confirming that the US spec cars don't have radio codes. I've disconnected my battery loads of times with no ill effect, radio-wise.

A radio head unit will require a code IF.................

The radio frequency/country setting is changed from US/North America or......
Certain settings are changed with the SELECTING RADIO FEATURES.

Most will not require the code but SOME DO. I don't remember what one's do or do not.
Be careful when changing settings.

If you have the radio code there is nothing that cannot be UNDONE.

MY 2000, built on 12/24/1999 has the radio code and had the card in the packet that contained the drivers manuals.
I had to use it a few times but the last time I put in a new battery.
it came right back. Go figure.

Well then it's full speed ahead with disconnecting the battery to reset the systems.

If you do end up needing a radio code, just call Jaguar. They will look up the last several digits of your VIN and can give it to you. Best of luck!
