Default 2001 xk8 rear seat removal

2 questions:
How do you remove the rear seat on a 2001 jag xk8 convert?
Is there access to the trunk after the seat is removed? Coupe and convert the same?
Thank you!

Cobrawet2, in the DIY there is a thread about replacing the rear window regulator, which also tells how to remove the rear interior. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-17/rear-window-problem-need-help-56100/#post406476. Go to Item #6.
I don't see how this will give you access to the trunk, as the gas tank is in the way.
Hope this will give you a direction.

Are you looking for a little pass thru or something more?
The lower seat is held in by two small bolts, feel under seat edges for the little rubber caps and pull off and unscrew. Pop out seat. then back is held in plac by two bolst alos. pull out and up.

As Stevepaa stated there are two hold down bolts just under the front edge of the rear seat cushion about 1 ft. or less from the ends of the seat. Take a 10mm socket or open end and remove the nut that secures the seat (the bolt is part of the cushion and doesn't come loose), raise the seat enough to get access to the bolt that secures the two center seatbelt buckles and then pull the cushion up and out along with the buckles. Easier with the front seats all the way forward and the backrest tilted forward.

The back is held in by hooks at the top, which can be a little tight but once the two screws at the bottom of the seat back are removed, it will come out by sliding up.

There is not a passthrough in either the coupe or convertible and the rear seats are indeed different between the two. Coupe and convertible are both removed the same way though.

Default Oops my bad

I made a mistake the other day about removing the rear seat cushion to replace the subwoofers, or anything else under there.

You DO NOT have to unbolt the center seatbelt latches in order to remove the cushion as they supplied the shroud that covers the ugly bits of the belts with a couple of snaps the when undone allow the belts to be pushed back through and out of the way so the cushion can be removed with the belts still bolted to the floor pan.

I just unbuckled the middle belt shroud and they did not push through. I ended up ripping half the shroud off and thru still didn't come through.

I pulled my useless rear sear out to add a usable package tray, and a couple of lockable storage buns(not real big, but useful. Replaced the speakers while I was at it, and added acouple more. I have been very happy with the results, and gotten many positive comments on the work.

Seats removed.

Trunk access??

The beginnings of the install.

Final results. Aluminum ribs to protect the carpet.

I had to unbolt the 2 center seat belt female parts. They were somehow hooked under the bolt/larger plate beneath the bolt. The material was fastened underneath. Luckily the shroud I ripped trying to avoid taking the bolt out, will hide upon reinstall. And the bolt is easily accessible through the seat opening where the female belt parts reside. Much easier than trying to hold the seat up and remove the bolt.
