Exclamation 2001 XKR Battery Removed Boot Won't Open

Hi, I was just about to take my XKR out of storage but couldn't get the boot(trunk) open. I had removed the battery upon storing it. I knew you can open the trunk with your fob key in the rear XKR badge keyhole but no luck. The key goes in and turns to the right but the boot won't unlatch. Help! Of course I'm a new XKR owner and this is the first time out of storage.

Thanks!
Gary

Use the jump points to open the boot.
They are underneath the rear left side, you can find an insulated HOT point and a non-insulated ground. Hook 12 volts to those points Correctly and you can open with the Smart Key or the Boot Release in the cabin.
Instructions are in the User Manual.

Also, I see you have a 2001, you posted in the 2007-2015 Forum.
No problem as the procedure is very similar, but you may want to post in your 1997-2006 forum from now on.

Thanks but where are the jump points on this car? I don’t have the manual.

You can download a manual from the X100 forum I believe, under the top STICKIES section.
Crawl under the left-rear of the car, slightly aft of the axle area. You can see an insulated bolt, separated from the body panel. I think there's a heavy red wire going to it but nothing else. Somewhere else nearish there is a body bolt without paint on it. Actually, any bare ground point will work for the negative since you have an all-steel body. Positive Cable to the insulated bolt, Negative Cable to a Ground Point.

Gary,

I've moved your question from X150 to X100 forum. The jump connections are in a different location on the X100:

This example is Supercharged but it's the same for locations Normally Aspirated.

Dang it, now I remember that.
Crap, and I had an XK8 also.
I'm old and mind-frail.
Sorry Gary.

Thanks GGG, yep I called my nearest Jaguar dealership and spoke to their service foreman. He had me jump using the exact jump points you indicate in your pic. I was able to push the trunk release button inside and wha la! I heard the most beautiful sound I've ever heard; a trunk lid opening.

Thanks!
Gary
