Question 2002 Jaguar XKR Radiator Removal

I currently own a 2002 XKR Convertible and a 1999 XK8 Coupe. I love both of them BUT I developed a crack in the XKR's radiator. My son and I have it about 99% ready to come out, BUT we can't figure out how to detach it from the air conditioner condenser. This is really frustrating because I love driving the car. I've seen posts that say it's possible without disconnecting the condenser's line but no one has imparted the secret to us on how to remove the screws. Just the idea that it's possible. Any advice short of telling me to take it to a shop would be greatly appreciated. I'm one of those people that actually like working on cars. It adds to the pride of owning them.

You are posting this question to the wrong list - this list is for the 2006/07 and later XK (not the earlier XK8).

Welcome to the forum mzhotrod,

I've moved your question from X150 to X100 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Hi,
They're not the easiest to get to!
Check out these threads:

Race Diagnostics. RD removed the rad/condenser as a unit, but his thread is full of pictures that will help:

It's about getting things out of the way to allow you to tilt the rad towards the engine so you can get to the two screws at the top to separate the condenser. The radiator side plate has to come off as the A/C lines pass through it.

Having the hood in the service position (disconnect gas struts, lift hood to near vertical & slide a bolt through the holes provided in each of the hinges) will make access easier for you.

Great response, as always. Why do I always think of Charles Dickens when I see your messages?

No idea. He doesn't look anything like me

Mrs H says I look like Bruce Willis, but that's usually just a precursor to a 'honey do'...

I was referring to the picture you have for your avatar, looks like a Dickens character.
