2003 XK8 cruise trouble
I have a 2003 XK8 and recently have been experiencing a trouble with the cruise control. The warning comes on the dash CRUISE CONTROL NOT AVAILABLE CHECK REAR LIGHTS. well I have checked all of the rear lights and they are all good but the warning keeps on appearing. Has anyboby had the same problem and what was done to correct it.

You think your brake pedal switch is working fine but it is highly likely that your fault is indeed there. The dash messages "Cruise Control Not Available" and "Check Rear Lights" together is almost always due to a failing brake pedal switch. Search this forum using "faulty brake pedal switch" and you'll read many, many posts about this issue. The fix is either a new brake pedal switch or some cleaning and re-soldering of your existing brake pedal switch....

I had the exact same indications last year. I remember folks hear talking about the brake switch, so I sort of "popped" the pedal a few times (let it fling back to the up position). Sure enough everything worked fine. And the problem hasn't returned. I hope (for both of us) that it's just some dirty contacts or some such phenomenon.
