Question 2006 XKR Shocks - Victory Edition

OK, so it's time to replace the shocks all the way around. I'm being quoted $2,500 for the front and $2,000 for the rear. Parts on-line look to be more like $1,800. Comments? Suggestions?

Car only has 56,000 miles.

Run away from that shop as fast as you can. That may be one of the most despicable cases of gouging I have ever seen....

What symptoms suggest the shocks need replacing?

Front end is riding so low that the tire has actually pushed the metal trim on the wheel well outward...that's another issue...how to bend it back. Secondly, the rubber piece at the very top of the shocks is "leaking".

Looks like the root problem is the upper shock mount, just like the rest of us. There is debate between the Jaguar stock part (which is not durable) and the upgraded Welsh part (which has failed for some, but not me).

Next, you can also replace the lower shock joints ($20ea?), way cheaper than an adjustable shock, to restore the ride height.

The Vehicle Spec Book on jagrepair.com has a description of the proper ride height.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

Assuming a few things here but if your car has not been really abused l would be surprised if your shocks actually needed replacing at your milage.
l had one of my fronts out of the car within the last month and it is tight as a drum at almost 200,000 klms.
Doing your top spring/shock mounts and lower shock bushings will likely fix all your problems. Ride height and camber is down to the top mount. As already mentioned Welsh tops seem to have had a possible quality issue for a time. I fitted their product in 2018 and have had NO problem to date.

My Welsh mounts are doing fine after a couple of years. This is one of those jobs that make it hard to justify owning a Jaguar, unless you do the work yourself. Meaning, it's a great opportunity to get ripped off. If it was the same job on a Toyota, it would be a different story.

My Welsh components (ordered in December 2015 and installed in January 2016) are also holding up quite well. I hope they continue to do so. The car is now driven only 1,200 to 1,500 miles per year....

Given all the recent problems, I would not install the current Welsh product. I would wait for Wayne's custom-designed solution....

I don’t know about Eurospare, but pertaining anything with the ÜRO name, run away as fast as you can. There’s nothing but atrocious quality with their parts.
