Default 97 xk8 seat switches fried HELP!

Ive just replaced all the chains and tensioners on my xk8 and moved on to the next problem. the power seats when plugged in will only move forward and down (not so comfortable) i tried swapping the passenger controls and managed to get the seat back to normal but when i switched back the passenger seat did the same. im not going to plug them in until i figure out a fix but i dont know how to get the passenger seat to a normal position in the meantime. I checked the seat module and there does not seem to be any worn connection, however when i took the seat switch appart i found it fried/melted, the same when i checked the passenger side. anybody know how to fix this?

I had a seat switch fail and was able to clean and lubricate it back to life. Based on the condition in the photos it is probably time to replace the switches.

You can no longer buy those switches from Jaguar! Let alone the cost is high.

You will have to find a breaker that has an XK with tatty seats otherwise they will not seperate the parts (normally). You often find the switches are worth more than the seat, over here you will pay around $120 for them if you are lucky.

I may have one of those switches, in coffee color. I will check for you.

The passenger seat switch is on the corner of the seat--just where a passenger's left foot can crunch the plastic front switch when they get in. If unavailable from Jaguar, I'm in a heap of trouble, as my seat won't go back.
