98 XK8 gear box solenoid fuse keeps blowing
The 15a fuse that controls the gearbox solenoid keeps blowing preventing me from moving out of park without manually releasing the solenoid. Anyone else have this problem or know a fix?
I'm guessing that the fuse is #7 in the driver side fascia fusebox?
Has any work been done recently to the headliner - e.g. the sunvisors removed/refitted?
Be careful with this, and don't replace the fuse again until you have found the cause.
Unclip the roof console and disconnect the feeds to the vanity lights. Check for shorts in the wiring to the lights and report back.

Good luck!
That fuse is obviously meant to protect things, but there have been a few cases where it didn't, resulting in destroyed body processor modules. Hence my warning.

Sure enough after inspection the wiring had been exposed and pinched when reattaching the visor clip. I wrapped it with electrical tape and carefully threaded the wiring making sure it wasn’t obstructing the square peg fitting. Replaced the 15a fuse and problem solved.
thanks again!
thanks again!
Just thanking the folks on the old thread. This forum is amazing. I never, ever, ever would have realized a short in the vizor was what prevented my car from not going out of park. I was able to tell my wife her vanity broke my Jag. She said I was annoying and asked what the hell I was talking about. I asked her if she remembered using he mirror and she did, so she smiled and said making herself beautiful for me was worth a broken car. Well she is right..., but i still like the Jag.
