Default sun visor removal question

My headliner is sagging on my A pillars and header. I want to replace the headliner. But, to get the header off, I need to remove the sun visors.

My question - do I need to disconnect the battery before removing the sun visors?

I slightly remember hearing that if you don't disconnect the battery before removing the sun visors you could screw up the car's CPU. Any truth to that?

JTIS says to disconnect the battery before removing sun visors. But JTIS says to disconnect the battery for almost everything.

Disconnect the battery...it is really easy to short the visor mirror lamps to the chassis otherwise. And you are correct, the Body Control Module should just blow a fuse when that happens, but there have been some cases of it burning out instead.

Got it. Battery is going to be disconnected.

As you can see, sometimes my laziness knows no bounds.

It's also easy to remove the centre panel with the interior lights (above the rear-view mirror) and disconnect the sun visor cables from where they connect to the loom. That way, there is no fear of blowing fuses etc when you remove the visors.

Hope this makes sense.

Best wishes, Colin
