'99 XK8 Rag-top Won't take gas
I'm having a problem with my '99 XK8 Rag-top. It won't take gas. The problem started suddenly and still persists after several months.
I can get some gas in but, it takes forever and I can never get more than a couple gallons in at a time. Some station nozzles are better than others but, all have the same click off problem.
No MIL and no codes, no indication as to what the problem might be. And other than this problem the car is, and runs, fine.
Anyone else seen this, and solved it? Thanks.

Mine started doing the same thing. All I had to do was tilt the handle counter clockwise to create a good seal around the filler nozzle. I guess the lack of a good seal will cause the nozzle to click off. Now when it happens, I turn it a little (from six o'clock to about 4 o'clock on the imaginary clock face, 4 o'clock towards the rear of the car), and all is good.

Marvin D. Miller suggested the same thing. I've always tried lifting the nozzle out, trying to let air in, thinking the tank was air bound. Like I told Marvin, I'll try it and see what happens. Nothing to lose.

You need to read through all the TSBs that I and several others have uploaded to the large file area in the 'stickies'.
TSB 310-10 has a diagnostic procedure we followed 'back-in-the-day'.
It is for the Sedan but the systems are similar.
If you read the TSBs many questions about your car will be answered.
Jaguar addressed many common faults with TSBs.
Tons of info in the download area and you can also perform a forum search using 'keywords' like fuel tank won't fill.

Found my problem
It was the CCV (Canister Close Valve) stuck closed. The solenoid was good but the plunger was bound closed with rust, hence no codes. Couldn't pass air in either direction. Took it apart and cleaned it up, reinstalled it, went to the station and viola it took gas! But I think I'm going to get a new one anyway.
