ABS control module PN Help
So about 2 years ago my husband sent out the module to be repaired. He believes they sent a different (wrong) one back after he installed it and started getting the dashboard christmas tree. Fast forward the car is mine now and I want it fixed right. I want to order another module but if the one that's in there now is incorrect, how will I know the original part number. Is the module itself the only place I can find the part number? TIA for any and all help.

Have a look inside the boot just behind the slam catch. There should be a sticker with a lot of part numbers on it. The part number you want won't be on that sticker but the first three letters will be. That will tell you what the part number will begin with. Compare those letters with the module on the ABS unit, not the pump. That will tell you if the module is correct. If it is correct then whoever did the work on it didn't do it well, or it hasn't been fitted properly. My car is a 97 and they all start with LJA. LNC would be for a later car. Once you have the first three letters phone "Auto reserve parts" and tell them what you are looking for and give them whatever info they need and they may have the pump and module for your car.
You won't be able to buy a new unit anymore but there are several places breaking XK8s. Its very important to have the correct ABS unit for your car or the sytem in the car will reject it. I hope this helps a bit. Good luck.

A 1998 XK8 will have two options.
Jaguar part number JLM 20555 is for the 5 pipe, 6 valve WITHOUT TRACTION CONTROL. (LNC2210BD will be written on the case)
Jaguar part number JLM 20556 is for the 6 pipe, 9 valve WITH TRACTION CONTROL. (LNC2210AD will be written on the case)
The part number written on the case is NOT the Jaguar Part Number!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No other ABS module will work properly in these cars.
Earlier or later modules do not function correctly.
I just bought a cheap/broken 1998 XK8 with a JLM21323. The error light was ON so I looked and had to replace with a JLM20555.
Somebody just put a 2000MY ONWARD module on the car and called it good?

THANK YOU SO MUCH! That really helped. It has ABS so you’ve narrowed it down to one for me. It should be this one then LNC2210AD

I repair all my own ABS modules so I have no insight as to what to recommend.
A few decades ago I wondered why we replaced so many ABS modules at the dealer so I cut one open to see.
I discovered the power pins to the motor had 'cracked' solder joints so I soldered the pins and it worked.
I gathered up all the modules I could find on the dealer shop floor and took them home to have as spares.
I still have a box or two somewhere in my shop.
Every once in a while I get one with a C1145 or C1155 that WILL NOT CLEAR and I know the car is not the problem.
I just toss those in the trash.

Thanks again Motorcarman. I've ordered the new module with pump. Should have it in 2-4 bd. Then it's off to the specialist. Fingers Crossed.
My auto function on my headlights doesn't work. He told me I need a new stalk, that the terminals were broken. The headlights work manually, just not the auto selection on the lever. I'd like to get as much as possible working properly on this car.
I went looking for some stalks and they are definitely available but I'm worried about getting the right one. I've already run into a seller whose module description was the LNC2210AD but when I insisted he send me a picture of the front of the module, it was an LNF2210AB.
I thought I saw a post somewhere in the forums with a link to parts and part numbers for a '98 XK8? Am I making this up or did I see it somewhere? Thanks again.
Sometimes all that is wrong with the 'multifunction' switch is that some wires need to be 're-soldered' to the terminals.
The 1998 XK8 I just bought has a fault with the 'twilight sentinel' (auto headlamps) so I need to look into that.(same fault you have)

Yes I see that the soldering is an issue with many of the electronics of the car. He didn't say the wires had issue. He said that the terminals were actually broken. Aside from the fact I'm not that handy with a soldering iron anymore. LOL. I believe I have found the correct one on Ebay so I'm gonna give that a shot. Thanks for you help and talk soon.
