ABS Light

There is probably no good substitute to reading the diagnostic codes out of the ABS module. It would tell you specific codes likely to zero-in on the problem. You would have to read these codes right after the problem occurs as these trouble codes may not persist past turning the ignition off. You would of course need a Jaguar/Land Rover-aware code reader, a simple OBDII tool will not do.
Under the try-it-anyway path, some swear by a periodic cleaning of all 4 sensors. The harnesses to the 2 front sensors is known for occasional breaks. And last, the reluctor rings on the rear wheels sometimes come loose and give weird speed signals that the ABS sort of chokes on.
Best of luck, keep us posted.

"Jaguar aware code Reader"
I do need one and would buy one if only I could satisfy myself regarding which one to buy, I read a glowing report about reader A and think that's the one I need, only then to read elswhere that A is not all that good and B is better, then I read that B is rubbish and............................................... aaaaaaaaaaarrrrggghh!!

There are a couple of treads at the moment discussing code readers. iCarSoft and Foxwell seem to be popular options. You probably need to be more transactional in your acquisition as a code reader that gets you out of a specific non-trivial problem probably pays for itself at once. With readers at <$200 compared to whatever shops charge for a diagnostics fee, the math is not hard. ABS modules seem to generally be very well supported, it is the more obscure modules that go largely untested (think body processor, security module, seat modules, etc.).

^ Yeah don't go trying top chase down every code read by the iCarsoft. I have one for home and it works great on the XK8 but it's not so good at clearing transient codes in the B modules. Mind you my XK8 is '97 so on the edge for any code reader (except for the ancient Launch X431 we have at work that would probably connect to the Ark if needed)

I had the same indications until I re-soldered the two connections inside the ABS module. All good since.
