Airbox Removal

Airbox Removal
Good evening.
I removing the parts necessary to get to the alternator, I need to remove the airbox. Seems straightforward. I removed the maf connection and proceeded to remove the nut pictured in the second picture on Gus' website. Unfortunately, the nut rests on a rubber shock and simply twists the rubber piece and will not come loose. There does not seem to be a nut of the bottom of the flange to hold while taking the top nut off. After 1 full hour, I decided to check with the forum to see what gives. I don't want to break the rubber piece as I am sure they are hard to find.
Thanks.

Be aware that if the alternator seems to be stuck on the engine mounting ears, there is a brass shim that makes the bolt fit correctly thru the ears. If it has moved out of place, it can slide into the ear itself and prevent the alternator from coming free.
I had to force a thin piece of sheet metal in the gap and push it back to release the alternator. You don't want to force it an break off these ears!
