Default Antenna lead adapter for aftermarket antenna

I am installing an aftermarket internal antenna, and would like to obtain an adapter to connect the generic male plug from the aftermarket antenna to the European or proprietary female plug. I've read that these exist, but cannot locate one. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Moseley

I got an adapter from Crutchfield.com, works perfectly and no need to cut any wires.
I can get the model number tomorrow if you can't find it on the website

I would appreciate the part number. Have never been able to figure out what exactly that connector is.

I use the Metra 40-VW21 Antenna Adapter for mine. Motorola female to OEM male. It's for a VW but fit perfectly. The link is for the Canadian site but they have a .com also.

Well I just rec'ed a Tune Trapper hidden antenna today Tune Trapper Hidden AM FM Antennas For Cars, Trucks, RV's, Tractors, Golf Carts, Vehicles, I also got the Metra 40-VW21 adapter recommend above.

Well the Metra 40-VW21 adapter does NOT fit my 03 XK8 antenna lead in the truck that's plugged into the stock power antenna, not even close..so I modified it... it's a male plug and the pin is larger than the female socket on the antenna lead going to the radio also the ground outer part is to big to make contact with the smaller ground plug on the antenna lead. I bent the ground cap on the adapter smaller and was able to push, force, the larger male pin into the antenna lead plug, taped everything up and it appears to work.

Installed the Tune Trapper antenna under the carpet where the top fold down so it is close to the rear window. No apparent interference with the top when it's down.

Everything works now..

Hey, I know this is an old thread, but did anyone ever find out what adapter will fit the strange female cable connector that connects to the power antenna on a 2005 XKR? My power antenna died and I’d rather keep her lines clean with an interior antenna arrangement.
Thanks,

I tried the VW connector, but it was not a fit. What I did was cut the stock connector off at the old antennae, so that I had both the male and female of the stock antenna, plus a short piece of wire. I soldered in a female connector to that wire, shrink wrapped the connection, and then plugged the new antenna in. Works fine, and should I ever want to go back to a stock antenna, I still have the connector intact. For the Female connector, I sacrificed an old antenna adapter I had laying around. They sometimes some with an aftermarket radio to adapt a new radio to an old antenna style. Might just be able to buy one too.

Default Dipole antenna application

Thanks darbysan. I actually ended up trying the dipole antenna solution Americain posted which cobbled together a piece of coax to the female antenna cable connector. It was easy and avoided cutting either stock power antenna connectors (in case I ever want to reconnect stock antenna and raise/lower it by hand). The one thing I changed was to drape the dipole antenna behind the vertical trunk liner rather than put it in convertible top well. Just afraid it would get tangled with top. Also experimenting with draping it in spare tire well with just the ends of the dipole ‘T’ sticking out from under wheel we’ll cover. These placements would also work with an XKR/XK8 hardtop.
