Default Any Suitable Splash Guards Out There ?

Much to my wife's chagrin, I may look for and install a quad set of small, unobtrusive black rubber splash guards on her XK8 to help diffuse the mess that rain and road grime quickly create. It doesn't take much wetness to really filthy up these low-sitting XK8s with their wide tires....

Anyone using a small set of black rubber splash guards that you have been happy with? If so, please provide the details....

I believe that some where shown as an accessory in the Jaguar Accessories booklet that I downloaded from somewhere. They actually look fairly decent in photos (unobtrusive) and would probably look even better if they were painted to match the body color. Also, I believe the price was fairly reasonable (if they are still available).

I have to say I'm with your wife. Splash guards won't be 100% effective anyway, so why spoil the lines of the car? I have them on my Transit van and they help a bit, but I'd never put them on my Jag.

It's easy to say "No splash guards!" when you're not the one who has to wash the filthy freakin' car every weekend....

The splash guards on my Ram do a fantastic job, but they would be much too big. If I go with splash guards, I'll certainly keep them small and as invisible as possible....

Jon,

The Jaguar Splash Guard Part Numbers for 1997-2004 (to VIN A40264) are:

Front : JLM 20090 (C2S4494)
Rear : JLM 20091 (C2S4500)

I can't find anywhere listing the equivalent for the Final Series with sill covers.

I haven't had them fitted to a Jaguar since my XJ8L.

Even on a black car they are very noticeable but I must admit also very effective.

The XK8 splash guards are a similar design thermoplastic moulding.

Thanks guys. I'll have a look at these. If I order a set, I'll probably have to handcuff my wife to the back deck handrail while I install them, though....

They will not fit XKs with side sill covers, I have removed many when doing conversions....

Jaguar never made any for the run out years, I guess they decided the plastic covers were enough.

The mud guards produced was only for years 96-04/5...... When the more angular rear bumper came out along with the sill covers they stopped fitting them

Thanks for the additional information. Guess I'll have to look at small generic ones. Maybe I can find something that will work. It will certainly be less costly as well....

Jon,
I have the small rear wheel arch guards fitted to my car, which do not spoil the lines of the car and do provide some splash protection. I would'nt dream of fitting anything to the front as in my opinion-on a car like this- it just would not look right.
Just my 2 cents, hope you don't mind.

Can't see how anything small enough to be unobtrusive on these cars would be effective.

And for me personally, I wouldn't pick a fight with the wife over something like mudguards. Just sayin'.

Jon,
There's some info here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...udflaps-68000/
Some of it may be useful, most of it probably not.......

Jag#4,

Battling with the spouse goes with the territory in our household. Fortunately, no severe flesh wounds yet. But I do predict that eventually she will drive one of her long butcher knives deep into my back while I'm sound asleep....

Jon89,

You're lucky, my wife tends to aim lower.
