Default Bad Headlight Causing Failed Emissions?

I've got a 2003 XKR coupe with 87k. Tried to get emissions done and they said their computer can't communicate with XKR. Went to another shop, same thing. Took to dealer and they say entire ISO network down. They then traced that to a faulted right front headlamp module and now want to replace the headlamp. Does this make any sense?

It is conceivable. The headlamp leveling module is on the same network segment.

Chances are if it is simply unplugged it will allow the emissions test to proceed, but you may want to observe if the headlamp position one of your lamps is likely stuck at is going to be a problem for you.

So it might be the leveling module that needs to be replaced?

Yes, that is the only portion of the headlamp that is connected to an in-car network directly.

Thanks. Do you happen to know the part number and of a non-Jaguar source for the module?

Might perhaps be a wiring fault. Modules should be on ebay / wreckers / etc and not much demand so reasonably priced.

Don't know on your car but on S-Types they need configuring (dealer tool).
