Default Battery life

For the past month the electrical gremlins came back to plague my 2002 XKR. Windows losing their memory. Doors locking and unlocking with no user input, etc etc.

I checked my records and it’s been right at 8 years since I purchased a battery, right after the car came to reside in my garage. And it’s been flawless up to recently. Does that sound right for a NAPA AGM battery ? I was hoping to get 10 years out of it. Was that unrealistic ?

Did Keeping the battery on my NOCO Genius 5 tender have any impact on the battery life ?

My new battery got installed yesterday. So far it’s banished the gremlins……

Z

Eight years is more than a lifetime for a battery in these cars. You certainly got your money's worth....

I'd say anything over 5years is bonus- even if kept on a tender

Mine is just over 7 years old and I occasionally hook up the CTEK if not using for a few days. I do get random warning messages every so often or the transmission goes into full automatic mode (cannot manually change gears) but these go away the next time I start the car. My workaround has been to turn the key to the first position and wait a few seconds for the self-checks to complete before starting, but the next time I bring the car to the local guy for servicing I will probably have him change the battery.

I doubt they expect their customers to hold on to their cars this long.

First OEM battery lasted 13 years

This replacement still going strong at 10 years with a lifetime replacement guarantee. The battery gets disconnected for 6 months over winter and still is "good as fully charged" come spring, no battery tender needed.
