Thinking of replacing the trim rings on my wheels but need to confirm the wheel model. I looked online, but all of the Montreals I saw were 8 or 9-spoke wheels; this one is 10-spoke.
Wheels look as if they were are in fact Melbourne & not Montreal
And came in 7.5 x 18 for the X Type , X Type estate also 8 x 18 for the S- Type from 02 MY onwards
That is a strange looking 20" BBS "Montreal" Wheel. Mine are 20" X 9" Front and 20" X 10" Rear.. All Stock BBS "Montreal" Jaguar Wheels that came on the XKR's....Starting in 2002 looked exactly like mine which is the way it came from the Factory.....I believe the first 20" BBS "Montreal" Wheels came on the 2002 XKR-100 Specialty Coupe.. I have seen Photos of an 18" Version and You have posted a Photo of one....but I have never seen one in Person....They look a little different down at the bottom of the Spokes....I am posting a Photo of a 20" BBS "Montreal" Wheel that came on my 2005 XKR Coupe for comparisons.

Thanks to all. Looks like redtoppop nailed it; it's an 18" Melbourne which apparently was fitted to both X and S-Types. As I stated in the original post, I'm considering replacing the garfed-up trim rings (or more likely having them replaced). Seems like a straightforward DIY job (I've said that before and come to regret it!) but if not done 100% correctly results in some leaks. Also the trim rings are not easy to find. I'm going to look around my area for a alloy wheel repair shop and see what they have to say about it. There are probably (almost always) more important issues to address, but you know how it is.....
Max224,,
If the Trim Ring is Stainless, the same as the "Montreal" ..You can replace it or clean the Paint off of it and File the rough parts off and polish it back to the Brilliance of Stainless Steel....OR....You can order new ones for probably around $100.00 each from: https://www.sbwheels.store/ as they can tell you everything you would ever want to know about the Wheels! They specialize in BBS stuff....
Someone has Painted the Wheel and also the Trim Ring but you can clean it up file it or sand it and polish it back to a reasonable looking Ring...! They cost about a $100.00 (Bucks) each.....................
At last, The Holy Grail! Thanks Billy Clyde! I'm going to check the color against other BBS wheels and also contract SB wheels about the trim rings. I really appreciate your help.
Thanks to bcprice36 I wrote to SB Wheels in the UK regarding the trim rings on my 18" Melbourne rims. Got an almost immediate response from Steve Gray who provided a lot of interesting information. I had originally thought these were 3-piece wheels, but after looking at them again found they are actually 2-piece (duh!). They also don't have trim rings; the damaged surface is the edge of the wheel drum. My options are: grind the edge smooth and either re-paint it (the original surface is power-coated), or spend a great deal of time smoothing and polishing them to a high shine. Given the fact they are more than likely going to have curb damage in the future, this promises to be an ongoing process. I've seen rim guards from several companies that glue on to the edge of the drum, but they appear to be made out of vinyl and I would question their longevity up against a stone curb. Which leaves the obvious common-sense approach; don't grind the wheels against a stone curb in the first place! I'd love to hear about measures others have taken to address this. Growing up (many years ago in a galaxy far, far away) I remembered an accessory you could buy that looked like a short antenna on a spring base which clipped to either the edge of the fender or the rocker panel and gave you an auditory warning when they scraped against a curb. crude, but effective. Anyone have any suggestions?
