Default Brake pads and Rotors

I have a 1997 XK8 Coupe with 57K miles on the clock. I am about to order front pads and rotors from Rockauto. Would appreciate any recommendations regarding which brand to get and those brands to stay away from.

Thanks,
Ron

I have Wagner ThermoQuiet semi-metallic pads on my 1999 Ram pickup truck and 2005 Jaguar S-Type 3.0 and love them. I will put a set on my wife's 2006 XK8 when her current pads are done. Very affordable, quiet as a tomb, and far less dust than the OEM pads....

Have you had any trouble with the rotors? Thanks for this info I am looking for brake parts now. Terrible squeal coming from my brakes. Plenty of pad, I think maybe someone put very cheap metallic pads on.

I decided on EBC Red for front and rear pads. I am still deciding between the OEB Brembo Rotors or the EBC Ultimax Rotors.

Default Squealing brakes

Hi, I have a 2002 4.2 XKR SC that I bought 8 weeks ago, I put a new pair of EBC drilled discs on with the recommended pads and the squealing is unbearable, pads were changed to another brand again on recommnedation but had the same problem but not all the time.

Has anyone got any ideas please?

I have heard complaints about this on initial install. It is suppose to subside and then go away completely after break-in. I am installing EBC Red-Stuff with EBC USR1600 and USR1601 slotted rotors. I am hoping this does not happen. I will let you know if I get them installed in the next two weeks. The other thing that concerns me is my break-in will take forever as the car is not driven very much.

The rotors and pads I bought from brakeperformance.com have performed beautifully. I bought both front and rear rotors and premium semi-metallic pads (the shipping was free) (link to picture/stats). Remember... if your XKR has the "performance option" (brembo brakes) then your rotor sizes are a bit larger than the standard size and their website has an option for that.

I don't have the brembo's on my XKR and I think the standard system performs well. Our standard system rotor sizes are actually identical to the C5 Corvette's.. 325mm front / 305mm rear (or in inches .. 12.79in front / 12.0in rear). I chose the drilled and slotted rotors and the performance is very good indeed.

Just fitted some to my 1999MY, there is no shortage of supply in the U.K.
I did not have the correct 7mm allen key to remove the carrier but borrowed one from a friend. Took about an hour to change both sides. Initially thought you had to take the whole caliper off but Graham and others soon put me on the right track. Thanks guys, thats one less job to do. Now if only I could find that drain plug on the radiator I could renew the coolant with fresh red antifreeze, I know it is on the bottom of the rad on the drivers side but so far it has remained hidden from my old eyes.
I'll get there.

I have use the Brakeperformance.com parts on my sons 98 mercedes,a 04 Dodge p/u, a 2002 Hyundai Sante Fe. Their quality and customer is the best I've ever seen.
A co worker that managed a national chain brake shop for 6 yurs , says they are the best quality he's ever seen.
