Can't remove hose clamp - resolved
I'm in the process if replacing the low pressure power steering house that goes from the reservoir to the pump and the clamp that secures the house to the pump had me completely stymied. I can't get it off. The clamp is right under the left valve cover and is connected in such a way that I have to pull upwards to remove it with my channel lock wrench. The space to do so is so tight and uncomfortable that I can't get the clamp to budge.
I already disconnected the hose from the reservoir side without much of a problem. That old hose is so damn toasted that I can't pull on it while holding the clamp open. Anyone got any advice?

I can appreciate using proper tools, however this looks like a challenge. Me against machine using only what I have. Which is the most tenacious? Come on, I cannot be the only one with this mentality!
Maybe a flat blade screwdriver prying on the end of the hose to push it off while opening the clamp with pliers.
Or maybe a small C clamp, or nut and bolt with two larger washers to hold it open.
Air tool with small cutoff tool.
Bend or break off that tang so that the clamp will open farther.
Whittle the hose out from under the clamp.
Anything, just keep your composure, and don't give up.
Although I cannot really tell by the photo, know that I really do believe you can win this challenge, and can share your accomplishment when you finally say
"YES"!

I finally got it done a few hours ago. I used a combination of pliers, knife, channel locking wrench and extensive creativing cursing to get it done.
Got the clamp out after 6+ hours and the new hose with clamps in after 8 minutes. I refilled the oil and voila! No more leak.
Now I'm left with busted knuckles, sore fingers, and a painful back. I'm glad I'm only 22; the pain will be gone tomorrow.
