Default Cassette iPod adapter does not work

I have an adapter that is a cassette tape type thing with a head reader built in it and a 1/8 inch lead at the other end.

It works fine in another car cassette deck but in the XKR it keeps flipping from side 1 to side 2.

Any ideas.

I don't really want to fit a new stereo.

Does the tape deck work with a standard cassette? I have one and it works but the sound quality was so poor I burn CDs now.

Have you tried running a cleaning cassette through the player? Mine seems to want cleaning quite often.

I'm assuming your adapter looks a bit like this? CAR Audio Cassette Adapter Connect CD Player Iphone Ipad Ipod Samsun TO Your CAR | eBay

I've got the same set up that I play satellite radio on. Mine also, switched often between side one and two.

Go on YouTube or Google and search "cassette adapter switching from side one to two". You'll find videos on how to disassemble the adapter and remove a part that reverses the tape. I did mine. 5 minutes. Cleaned my tape head (good luck finding those since cassettes are obsolete) and I've never had a problem again.

I had the same issue and found that flipping the cassette cured the problem. It seems like the cable is exiting the cassette on the wrong end but there was a provision to route the cable through the cassette. I think this was more of an alignment issue with the cheap cassette than an issue with player.

Thanks team

Will try all those and yep the adapter looks just like those ones.

It is about 20 years old though.

Maybe I try a newer one

I'm not on commission, honest! I always recommend the ION Bluetooth adapter if your iPod or mobile phone has connectivity, it really has been a Godsend for me and dispenses with messy cables.

Buy ION Bluetooth Cassette Adapter | John Lewis

You can probably get them elsewhere.

the adapter and remove all the gears, leave the wire and head alone and put it back together.
