Default CD Changer error code E-01

Hello all. My recently acquired 2002 coupe has been great but yesterday the CD changer acted up. It was playing fine and I pressed the button to change disks but it froze up and shows error code E-01 (disc change malfunction). The 6-disk magazine won't eject from the changer but there is a brief whir as though it is trying to. The manual says to "see your Jaguar dealer" as the solution.

Can anyone suggest if there is anything I or my local car stereo shop can do to remedy this? The closest Jag dealer is 300km away.

Thanks,

There is a guy in LA on Ebay that fixes this.

After re-searching the forums again using Ungn's search suggestion I found a similar thread. Tried using a letter opener under the magazine and after about 5 tries, the magazine ejected. Checked everything over and then re-inserted it. All seems good again but the thread to expect it to jam again (and again) over time intimating that the Jag changer isn't the best quality.
Thanks Ungn for pointing the way.

Mine worked for about 2 months before it stopped working for good and just gave an error. I think plastic gears strip.

Would a bit of lube on those plastic gears help?

it is usually the nut coming loose on the worm gear that jams the cd player. Disassemble the cd player and retighten the nut - maybe add some loc-tite and you should be good to go. I've had to do this twice in the 7 years - a bit of a pain to remove but easy fix

I got the same error message once on my '02 XKR coupe. I just had to tap lightly on the changer unit, and restart the car. Hasn't appeared again in the next 20,000 miles, so don't assume that this issue will be re-visiting you in the near future.
