this is fairly common - there is a worm gear in the changer that becomes misaligned - remove the changer, open it up, realign the gear and reinstall - check the following thread

Howdy Folks:
This has happened to me twice.
The first time I checked the worm which was properly engaged, but rotated it and also the laser arm mechanism so that neither were at the end of travel. Then put it back together and it it worked for about 5 months.
The second time, I did the same thing to repair except that I also read that a dirty laser reader would not "see" the disk and thus would report that there was no disk even if there actually was one loaded. So I cleaned the reader with a Q Tip wetted with some windex. The unit has been working fine for about 3 months. I guess time will tell, but it does make sense to me to clean the reader.
