You don't state what MY
2000MY XK8 Jaguar RTS I used for example

PLEASE GIVE MAKE, MODEL, YEAR FOR CORRECT ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jaguar Warranty time is 11.7 for replace and transfer ancillary parts.

7.7 hours for engine assy replace.

Real world time would be 'warranty time times 1.5'

11.7 X 1.5 = 17.55
7.7 X 1.5 = 11.55

The XK8 is a 1999 model. I thought the dealership said they estimated the changeover to be between 15 and 20 hours. It ended up being 29 hours which seems high to me.

So, what you are getting at is how many hours should a dealership charge to change an engine?

And you are saying you were charged 29 hours by a shop to change your engine?

Was it a dealership or independent shop?

What all did you have them do?

What did they charge per hour?

What was the total bill?

Bob's real world tally comes to 29.5 so not far away.

Norri
The 2 times are one or the other
Engine R&R PLUS transfer parts for a long block OR
Engine assembly out and back in

If the engine was complete from a salvaged car then the shorter time as few parts are needed to transfer.

But if there were seized bolts and the like, which is not the mechanic's fault, time might add up.

But it shouldn't more than double, Bob already has a real world factor in his time.
