Compression Problems Update & Question.
Hi All,
Last year I created the following post regarding my 1999 4.0L XKR RH convertible (non starter) having issues with the compression being all over the place with 8 boar having zero compression.
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ailure-249714/
Due to Covid, Lock Downs and having to find another place to store the car I'm looked at this again. It turns out a primary chain has snapped which means the piston has come in contact with a valve or two.
My new mechanic (who I trust more than the old one) has only just looked at it but is going to removed the head and check the sump to confirm things over the next few days but he thinks all 4 chains will need to be replaced as he's going to have to take the front of the engine off anyway.
I'm UK based and was wondering if a kit exist that contains all 4 chains etc?
Cheers

I can’t directly answer the question.
But will observe that aftermarket parts quality is often poor. Timing chains would be one area of which I’d want the highest quality parts available.
Which usually is going to be the Jaguar manufactured parts. No amount of saving would prompt me to use an eBay sourced kit for any internal engine parts.
Additionally, many eBay parts that are advertised as being OEM Jaguar manufacture are counterfeit, with fake logos, etc.

Yes you do but I have found them to be pretty clear on most things although I haven't yet bought anything from them as my local SNG Barrett is within a couple of quid for most things and I can drive there (Bridgnorth).
